Position: This full-time position is a dual role of 0.5 FTE in the Clinical Nurse Educator - Department based role supporting ongoing staff development and 0.5 FTE in the RN role supporting unit staffing in 2L Med-Surg/Stroke/Tele (Salary Range for RN role is $36.00-$55.80).

A Brief Overview: A Nurse Educator is a nurse with previous clinical experience, who may or may not have had previous educational experience, whose focus is on staff development and nursing education. Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager and working in collaboration with Nursing Professional Development and Research, the nurse in this role functions as an educator, consultant, role model, staff/patient advocate, change agent, and leader.

Facilitates the onboarding of employees to ensure integration to the role on both unit and system-wide levels, focusing on retention and growth for licensed and unlicensed team members.
Serve as a clinical mentor and role model for new and existing staff.
Supports the role transition, role integration, skill acquisition and mastery as nursing staff advance from novice to expert. Promote a climate of learning that supports Patricia Benner's \"Novice to Expert\" model, starting in the orientation period and continuing throughout a person's development.
Evaluates orientation and onboarding experiences to ensure newly hired team members are prepared to practice safely and independently.
Collaborates with Clinical Nurse Manager and Clinical Coordinators to assess education and performance needs of staff. Serve as a resource to Clinical Managers/Clinical Coordinators in defining education and performance needs of staff.

In collaboration with Clinical Nurse Manager, partner with staff to lead unit council development and participation in shared decision making councils.
Demonstrates knowledge of effective communication principles and promotes communication among disciplines.
Designs educational programs that employs a variety of teaching-learning strategies and the use of technology. If applicable, includes \"skills days\" Evaluates all learning activities using objective performance criteria and recommends corresponding changes in education plans.
