Web Designer / Developer for Editorial Lifestyle Site (WordPress + Breakdance)

Looking for a talented web designer/developer to refine and elevate an existing website for a growing lifestyle and local media brand.

The site is currently functional but fairly bare-bones. The goal is to evolve it into a more polished, editorial-style digital publication—something that feels closer to an online magazine than a standard blog.

This is not a full rebuild from scratch, but rather a thoughtful redesign and expansion that improves the overall look, structure, and user experience.

Key Objectives:

- Refresh the site design using updated brand guidelines (typography, color, visual identity)

- Improve overall layout and visual cohesion across pages

- Elevate article pages to feel more like a modern editorial / magazine experience

- Enhance usability and flow on both desktop and mobile

- Expand and refine key pages (homepage, category pages, article templates, etc.)

- Create a more engaging and intentional browsing experience (not just static blog posts)

Platform:

- WordPress (built using Breakdance)

Ideal Candidate:

- Highly detail-oriented with a thoughtful, intentional approach—no element feels incidental or overlooked

- Strong eye for clean, modern, editorial web design

- Experience designing for media, lifestyle, or content-driven websites preferred

- Comfortable working within an existing site structure (not starting from scratch)

- Ability to balance design + functionality + user experience

- Detail-oriented with typography, spacing, and layout systems

Design Direction:

- Elevated, modern, and editorial but warm

- Clean and typography-driven

- Cohesive

- Engaging without feeling cluttered or overly trendy

References will be provided.

Scope May Include:

- Homepage redesign/refinement

- Article template redesign

- Category / archive page improvements

- Navigation + UX improvements

- Mobile optimization

- General visual polish across the site

Additional Notes:

This has the potential to become an ongoing relationship as we continue to expand the site and add new features.
