Remote Radiology in CA | Evening & Weekend Coverage

📌 Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a Board-Certified Diagnostic Radiologist for a remote, hospital-based inpatient setting. This role offers a steady schedule with primarily evening and weekend coverage, ideal for physicians who prefer later shifts and high-acuity diagnostic work.

The team reads a diverse case mix with strong emergency department exposure. Candidates must be comfortable working independently during portions of the shift and handling consistent volume.


🕒 Schedule Details

Weekday Coverage (Remote)

  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM (9 hours)

  • Alternate Evening Option: 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM

  • Variable Day Shift: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (8 hours)

Weekend Coverage (Remote)

  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM (9 hours)

  • Alternate Evening Option: 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Minimum of two weekend evenings required (more preferred).
No call responsibilities.

During the 3 PM–12 AM shift, coverage is solo from 6 PM–12 AM. Providers must be comfortable independently managing all incoming cases during that timeframe.


📊 Case Mix & Volume

  • Average Volume:

    • Weekdays: 130–140 reads per shift

    • Weekends: Up to 150 reads per shift

    • Evenings typically range 120–130 reads

  • Modalities:

    • MRI

    • CT (higher volume)

    • Ultrasound

    • Plain films (higher volume)

  • Not Included:

    • No Nuclear Medicine

    • No Cardiac Imaging

    • No Breast Imaging

Preferred: Body Imaging background
Highly Desired: Prostate MRI interpretation experience

Providers must be comfortable reading emergency department studies, including occasional pediatric trauma cases.


🏥 Practice Setting

  • Hospital-based inpatient radiology department

  • 100% Remote Coverage

  • Strong hospital-based support staff

  • EMR: EPIC (required experience)


✅ Requirements

  • Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology

  • Active, Unrestricted California License

  • DEA Required

  • BLS or ACLS Certification

  • Minimum 1+ Year Diagnostic Experience

  • EPIC Experience Required

  • Ability to commit to full scheduled shifts

Emergency privileges may be available to help expedite credentialing.


⏳ Credentialing Timeline

  • Standard: Approximately 30+ Days

  • Emergency Privileges: Approximately 14 Days
