Duties Description This postiion will primarily be responsible for the management of conservation easements. This includes the following tasks: 1. Coordinate monitoring and compliance verification for conservation easements: - Coordinate periodic field monitoring of easement properties; document natural or human-caused changes on the easement properties; verify whether landowners are in compliance with the terms and conditions of their conservation easements.
- Communicate and exchange information with easement landowners, by telephone, written correspondence, and at annual meetings. - Schedule and facilitate annual meetings with easement landowners. - Assist with the preparation of Baseline Documentation materials for easement properties, including preparation of GIS maps, and documentation of natural and man-made property features using written text, diagrams, and photographs.
- Review forest management plans and forest management activities, review plans and certification documents submitted to DEC for completeness. Verify in the field that forest management activities are being conducted in accordance with the terms and conditions of the conservation easement. - Perform necessary clerical work, such as entering data into a database or files, and summarizing documents and files.
2. Coordinate management plan development for conservation easements: - Serve as lead author and management team leader. Coordinate with various Department programs, State agencies, stakeholders and facilitate team meetings.
- Prepare reports, studies and formal correspondence and present information for public awareness. - Perform analysis of recreational use and natural resource conditions to develop proposals based on conservation easement terms, current guidance, policies, and law. - Meet schedules and assure plans are accurate and complete.
3. Coordinate management plan implementation for conservation easements: - Serve as area manager and oversee construction, maintenance, and related management tasks. - Develop work plans based on management plan guidelines, Department policy and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Work cooperatively with other Department programs and stakeholders to complete projects. - Monitor recreation use levels and associated impacts on natural resources as part of a team. - Help prepare and manage contracts.

Forester Trainee 2: You must also have as qualifying bachelors degree as noted above and either 1: One year of professional experience in forestry; OR 2: A master's or higher degree in ecological forest management, forest biology, forest ecosystem science, forest health, forest resource management, forestry, Natural Resources Planning, Natural Resources Management, Natural Resources Conservation, or urban forestry.

55-b/55-c Appointment- Must meet minimum qualifications above and include a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c program. Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
