Data Analyst Programmer

The primary function of the business portfolio and engagement data analyst/programmer is to provide data products to the MCP IT/IM team in support of major capital projects and in compliance with project excellence. This individual works with other team members to gather requirements, identify information sources, evaluate use cases and develop, support and troubleshoot work products and tools. The scope of work products and tools created, utilized and/or supported by this position include leadership reports, transition to operations (TTO) utility tool administration and configuration, Azure DevOps support, data lake, AI initiatives, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Power Automate and other as required by MCP IT/IM team.

Responsible for:

5.1 The integrity and completeness of work product

5.2 The accuracy of work estimates, staying within scope and communicating required adjustments

5.3 Timely communication, escalation and resolution to any roadblock

5.4 Timely communication to work product consumers of outages, known issues, security risks, etc.

5.5 Regular updates on workload and capacity to lead and key stakeholders

5.6 The reliability of data used in products and analytics – retrievable and traceable logs on usage, deletions and modifications of source or fused data

5.7 Preparing and implementing documentation as agreed upon with lead

5.8 Ensuring continuity of work products by developing a backup plan, training a backup and granting necessary permissions

5.9 Conducting training sessions as needed

5.10 Providing work product use support

5.11 Managing security using Chevron tools, best practices and adherence to all polices

5.12 All compliance requirements and updates for work products, as well as upgrades and approved enhancements

5.13 Sharing subject matter expertise and recommending improvement opportunities

5.14 Providing TTO and technical assistance in transition events from one system to another

5.15 Providing high level administration of TTO – managing tenants (org segments), projects, SQL rules, API connections and other mapping of taxonomies and routes, along with initial role permissions

5.16 Applying Chevron Information Risk Management policies and controls to work product

5.17 Conducting consumer/user acceptance/review testing for all work products

5.18 Quality assurance and verification

5.19 Generating discrepancy and issue logs/reports to resolve any issues

5.20 Providing level1 support for troubleshooting work products or issues with others’ use of Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Power Automate, SharePoint

5.21 Mentoring Project Team Members on work products, data analytics, data consumption

5.22 Engaging and advising in process design and implementation of other data related areas as requested – master data management, taxonomy, data architecture, data governance, data quality

Required Technical Skills

PC knowledge and skills: Advanced user of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power BI. Basic knowledge of document managements systems (e.g. D2, PIMS, SharePoint)

Systems/tools experience (preferred): Omega iPIMS, Documentum D2, Azure DevOps, SQL(writing and optimizing SQL queries to retrieve, insert, update, delete data in database)

Language skills: Advanced English

Required Functional/Domain Knowledge

Work Experience (Required):

• Not less than 5 years of experience in analogous position

• Strong knowledge and experience supporting data products and tools

• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

• Strong knowledge and experience understanding and analyzing information sources and flows

• Good team player

Work Experience (Preferred):

• Working knowledge of major capital and/or major construction project execution

• Working knowledge of facility engineering

Must have the skills to:

Job Duties/Functions:

Safety (10%)

• Contribute to safety through the reliability and efficiency in data, databases, work product and performance

• Participate in safety program including BBS/RSI Guard/Archer tasks, compliance training, etc.

• Attend safety meetings, reports on potentially dangerous accidents and unsafe working conditions, take actions and measures to prevent incidents

• Ensure security of company property and information in the area of responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with IT/IM activities with corporate infrastructure, technologies, applications and standards

Business Engagement Data Analyst/Programmer (90%)

• Engage MCP IT/IM leadership team to develop and support meaningful metrics and updates to platform leaders and key capital project stakeholders

• Engage MCP IT/IM team members to evaluate use cases where a Power BI report provides meaningful and actionable queries, updates, visualizations and analytics

• Administer the MCP IT/IM utility tool – TTO (Transition to Operations), creating/archiving new organizational segments and projects, working with project IM/transition coordinators to translate, map taxonomies, set up rules (SQL), define routes (API), etc. to enable transition load events

• Support MCP IT/IM team in ADO as required for managing work scope and development

• Support MCP IT/IM AI initiatives; make visible opportunities that optimize efficiency and add business value

• Support data mining, aggregation, etc from data lake

• Engage MCP IT/IM team members to identify areas to apply Microsoft Power Automate (create flows between apps and services to sync files, get notifications, collect data and streamline repetitive, manual tasks) and Microsoft Copilot (search content, summarize, automate tasks, analyse)

• Escalate data integrity issues, roadblocks and other issues impacting delivery of work

• Provide training and explanation of input/output as required to information/tool consumers

• Document work products with simple one-page instructions

• Ensure all work product complies with Company policies and procedures
